Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone provides his Monday digital news conference, with lower COVID-19 figures than have been seen in quite awhile.
Briefing Notes:
- Elective surgeries added back to Suffolk hospitals. - Bellone says 6 of 7 metrics now met in Suffolk County toward reopening - including contact tracing. Nassau has also hit 6 of 7. - Bellone says 230 contact tracers onboard, remainder will be onboarded 'this week.' He clarifies that technically Suffolk is only at 5 of 7 right now, but 'on our way' to 6 of 7. - Bellone: Smith Point, Cupsogue Beach county parks will be open for residents ONLY this weekend. - 107 COVID-19 positive tests ... 38,224 total. Bellone says this is one of the lowest numbers they've seen. - 6 additional deaths -- lowest number in 'a long, long time.' - 925 additional antibody positive tests. - Decrease in hospitalizations by 8, ICU bed decrease by 7. - Hospital capacity: 70%. - 47 COVID-19 patient discharges. - 2.3M school meals distributed since beginning of pandemic. - Bellone says he has talked to the owner of the LI Ducks about potential games being played/other solutions.
