Nassau police are investigating a beating Sunday morning in Roosevelt a witness says was racially motivated.

?I saw eight Hispanic males, two with baseball bats, they were beating a man in the middle of [Nassau Road] and they were calling him ? racial slurs,? says Dave Tillery, of Freeport. ?I pulled up and said, ?Guys, get off of him, get off of him.? ?

Tillery, a school security guard, says he was driving to work when he saw the incident and thinks his uniform may have scared off the attackers.

Nassau police have not released much information about the alleged attack, but say they were called to the scene of a possible assault at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday.
