A Nassau theme park is under fire for not following COVID-19 safety guidelines.
After waiting in line for hours at Bayville Scream Park Saturday night, Rebecca Brust, of Farmingdale, says she went home because she felt unsafe with people being crowded so close to each other while the COVID-19 pandemic is still going on.
She said she tried talking to a manager about her concerns.
"I said 'How am I supposed to feel safe being here, waiting on this line when everybody's so close together?' He said the situation was handled, get back in line you're here to have fun," she says.
Assistant Chief Michael Uttaro, of the Nassau Fire Marshal's Office, says 200 to 300 people were at the attraction, and officials had to cite the owner for violating social distancing guidelines.
The Fire Marshal's Office says it was back at Bayville Scream Park again Sunday morning. It gave the owner a final warning to get the crowd sizes under control.
