A Bay Shore man was sentenced Wednesday for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl several times.

Suffolk County officials say Omar Stevenson raped the victim on four separate occasions in late 2021.

The victim's mother discovered inappropriate calls and text messages between the suspect and her daughter.

Detectives later matched Stevenson's DNA to DNA recovered from clothing the victim wore during the last assault.

Stevenson will now serve 13 years in prison followed by 15 years of post-release supervision of rape.
