Students at both Valley Stream North and South high schools had their bags searched on their way inside school Tuesday following a threat the district received late Monday
The message, which was very similar to a threat made at Long Beach High School, claimed to be a former student who was bullied and was planning to commit a mass shooting.
The person said they planned to use their Valley Stream student ID card to gain entry and made threats against both Valley Stream North and South high school campuses.
Students were not allowed to leave the building during lunch periods as a result of the threat.
Parents and students say the school responded appropriately, but some were still frightened.
There was no additional information that would indicate the threat is current and credible, according to a message from the superintendent.
The case remains open. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nassau County police.
