The Town of Babylon is fighting to shut down a Farmingdale adult video store it said is in violation of several town codes, an assertion store owners deny.
Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone said the Peek A Boo Adult Shop is located less than 500 feet from a senior citizens residence and lacks a new permit since being changed over from a garage.
Store manager Bradley Mard said Town of Babylon lawyer Tom Margiotta approved operation of the store and issued a sign permit to expire in 2009.
Bellone said the real issue is the store?s proximity to the senior residence. Mard argues he has never had a complaint from any resident who lives there. One senior housing complex resident said she didn?t even know the store was there, but she doesn?t like the idea of living so close to it.
Bellone said future patrons of the store will be in violation of town code. The store's owners said they'll fight it in court.
