A Babylon man says he had three packages stolen from his home Monday by a suspected porch pirate.
Rich Bruckner says a porch pirate was caught on video stealing $300 worth of deliveries off his front steps.
"He clearly sees there are packages there, he walks onto my property, he has a bag ready, takes it out of his pocket, picks up the boxes and puts it into the plastic bag," Bruckner says.
Bruckner just moved to Babylon four months ago and hasn't had the best welcoming. Just a few weeks ago, a car drove right through his home.
Bruckner reached out to the village mayor who said this will be reported at a quality-of-life meeting with police.
Residents say they are not shocked due to a recent rise in stolen packages.
"It happens a lot, we have camera and I know other people do too," said Dave Mroczka, of Babylon.
Suffolk County police gave tips on how to protect your property, including scheduling package deliveries for when you will be home. They say having a camera can help identify and locate potential thieves.
