A baby born five months ago with his intestines outside his body was finally taken home from the hospital Tuesday.
The boy, Christian, was born with gastroschisis - a birth defect of the abdominal wall where the baby’s intestines are on the outside of the body through the navel.
His parents, Nykki Hunter and Chris Rojas, say they are thankful to have him home.
"It's words, it's feelings that I can't even explain," said Rojas. "We waited for this for a long time."
Christian was born on May 5 and has since had five surgeries. He is now happy and healthy.
“We are going to make up for lost time,” says Hunter.
