Police say they have caught the man responsible for fatally stabbing a Riverhead woman in her home Friday.
Police say 30-year old Antonio Ropiza killed 55-year-old Beatrice Shaw over drugs. Ropiza allegedly bought cocaine from Shaw and was dissatisfied with some aspect of it, Suffolk County Deputy Inspector Robert Oswald says.
Shaw had sold drugs to Ropiza before, officials say, but she was more of a casual user than a dealer. Neighbors say they?re not terribly surprised given that drugs are a big concern in the area.
Ropiza is charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail.
