An Amityville mother is asking for help to find her daughter nearly two weeks after last hearing from her.
Ofelia Villatoro says her daughter, Melany Maldonado, left home on the evening of Jan. 28 to bring a friend to the train station. Villatoro says Melany was last seen getting into a black car near their apartment on Great Neck Road.
Neither Villatoro nor her husband have heard from or seen Melanie since.
“We just want her to let us know where she is so we can look for her,” said Villatoro. "She hasn't answered her dad, either. No texts, no phone calls. She hasn't said anything to anyone."
Melany was reported missing by her parents on Jan. 29.
Suffolk police say the department is actively looking for Melany.
Villatoro says her worries about her daughter grow the longer that time passes.
"I don't want to start thinking about the worst that could have happened to her, but I have faith in God that he's protecting her wherever she is,” she said.
She also shared a message she hopes her daughter will see.
“Melany, your parents are worried about you," she said.
Suffolk police ask for anyone who may have seen Melany or knows anything about her disappearance to call police at 631-852-COPS.
