A 21-year-old Amityville man admitted to attempting to shoot and kill a police officer.

Jayvon Bell pleaded guilty to shooting at officers in North Amityville in June 2023 while attempting to avoid arrest.

Bell was wanted for robbing a taxi driver and flashing a gun at a gas station clerk to get out of paying for soda.

He faces up to 20 years to life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for April.
