An Elmont man faces serious charges over a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened in December 2023.
Investigators say Warren Rollins was arraigned Tuesday in Queens on several charges, including second-degree murder, manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
The victim in the crash - Gary Charlotin, of North Baldwin, was struck while trying to cross Hempstead Avenue near UBS Arena. The Queens district attorney says Charlotin was thrown into the other lane of traffic when Rollins ran him over.
Investigators say witnesses tried to stop the driver after he ran over the victim, but say Rollins continued to speed off.
The driver who initially hit Charlotin - Osman Zavala-Varela, of Hempstead, was charged in 2024 on a separate charge.
Rollins is due back in court in July. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
