An Amityville man is accused of throwing a piece of concrete at a woman's car in what Nassau police are calling a bias crime.
Police say 20-year-old Carl Graves threw the concrete at Kim McCandless' Dodge minivan Monday afternoon as she was driving west on Sunrise Highway near the Sunrise Mall. McCandless, of West Islip, had four children under the age of four in the van. According to police, Graves told them the mall had become too white.
Graves is being held on $10,000 bond after being arraigned on charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and menacing as a bias crime.
