New York is making significant progress in the fight against COVID-19.
Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced a big drop in new infections.
The statewide infection rate over the weekend hit its lowest percentage since Omicron was named a variant of concern in November.
On Saturday, New York's positivity rate averaged 3.5%. That's over a 90% decrease since the state hit its peak on Jan. 7, when more than 90,000 cases were reported.
On Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk counties average is about 5.31%. That's down half from over 10% two weeks ago.
