Officials are trying to determine the cause of a fire that broke out in a vacant building in Elmont.

The fire broke out at the commercial building located on Meacham Avenue around 5:35 p.m. Monday.

Officers deemed the building to be vacant and unoccupied at the time of the fire. 

The Elmont Fire Department assisted by multiple local fire departments extinguished the fire without incident or injury. 

The building was boarded up for safety.
