Over $5 million will now go toward groups dedicated to fighting the opioid epidemic on Long Island.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman announced the funds will go to seven different organizations, to be spent on drug prevention, education and treatment.
Blakeman says they are also working on efforts to keep drugs out of the county.
“We are working on a very robust messaging and education program that we will be dedicating some funds toward,” he says. “Enhanced enforcement, so we don’t have drug dealers like the fentanyl drug dealers we caught last month, who had enough fentanyl to kill 2 million people."
