Police shut down 4 Suffolk County smoke shops accused of selling illegal cannabis

Suffolk County police say four Long Island smoke shops were shut down Thursday after an investigation found they were illegally selling cannabis products.
"Organically Connected" has locations in Huntington, Port Jefferson, Patchogue and Ronkonkoma, all of which were shut down.
Suffolk police seized more than 100 pounds of cannabis and edibles, along with over $50,000 in cash.
Seven people were arrested. Three of them face charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon. Others were charged with having unlicensed security guards.
Police say community complaints prompted the investigation into the chain.
Residents in Huntington described seeing detectives and undercover officers removing boxes from the New York Avenue shop Thursday. On Friday, customers were still seen ringing the doorbell at the location not yet aware it had been shut down.
News 12 reached out to the owner of "Organically Connected" several times but did not receive a response.
It’s unclear if or when the stores will reopen.
