Budgets for seven Long Island school districts were given a second chance Tuesday, with all but one making the most of it.
Residents living in the Brentwood School District passed the same $276 million budget that failed last month, with 1,281 people voting in favor and 966 in opposition.
Superintendent Michael Cohen, who announced his resignation exclusively on air with News 12 Long Island following the budget's initial defeat, said he was very pleased with the revote's outcome.
"This budget was a good budget the first time around. It was a good budget the second time around," Cohen said.
State-controlled Roosevelt School District had its budget approved by a 427-274 margin, one month after the same budget was turned down by more than 70 percent of voters.
Westbury School District's spending plan, which was reduced after the first vote, failed again, this time by a 815-718 vote. Westbury will operate on an austerity budget next year.
Budgets for the Mount Sinai, Wyandanch, Fire Island and Patchogue-Medford school districts also passed.
