A pop-up vaccination site organized by Northwell Health opened Saturday in New Hyde Park.
A total of 500 people were scheduled to get a dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says the doses are for people who live and work in the New Hyde Park community.
She says around 30% of residents in the county have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday that 5 million New Yorkers have at least received one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. On Friday, Sen. Chuck Schumer said the state would receive 1.65 million doses weekly until the end of April in an effort to “supercharge” the vaccine process.
On Tuesday, the Nassau Coliseum will open as a mass vaccination site, where people will walk in to the lower level of the venue to get the shot.
In Suffolk, County Executive Steve Bellone says the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge will also open as a vaccination site next week.
