A fatal car crash shut down part of the eastbound Long Island Expressway near Jericho this morning.
According to detectives, a 47-year-old male was driving an SUV eastbound on the LIE at exit 41 when he lost control. Officials say the man struck the center median and then continued across all four lanes, striking a wall.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The identification of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
The eastbound LIE was closed from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. but has since reopened.
