A Long Island woman is honoring moms in Port Jefferson who were lost too soon.
Deb's Day is a community event held on Saturday where bouquets are given out in honor of moms who have passed away.
Alicia Italiano started the event through her business, The Nest, in memory of her mom who died in 2021.
"You just don't know what to do with the grief. So, I have channeled to helping others and to spreading love and spreading my mom's love and light and joy and making people smile through flowers," said Alicia.
This year, 50 bouquets were sponsored and tagged with the name of someone being remembered. Alicia tells News 12 that they raised nearly $5,000 for single moms here on Long Island.
