Officials are investigating the cause of a house fire in Suffolk County on Tuesday.

Flames broke out around 1 p.m. at the home on Cleveland Avenue in Selden.

No one was inside at the time of the blaze, fire officials say.

Neighbors tell News 12 the house has been abandoned for at least 20 years.

"We heard a tree crackle. I thought a tree was coming down on the guy across the street's house. I looked up and there were flames. We called 911, and there you go," said Teresa Perrino.

Crews from 14 fire departments and four ambulance companies responded to the scene and got the flames under control in about two hours.

There were no reported injuries.
