Friends who knew the family who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Greenburgh are speaking to News 12.

Pastor Tyrone Robinson says the last 24 hours have been tough for him.

"I'm still a little bit stunned. [I] really don't know what to do," Robinson says.

Robinson says he is in shock because the three people who died were members of the First Community Baptist Church in Greenburgh, where Robinson serves as pastor.

"One of them was a deacon. The young lady was a very good singer," Robinson says.

Greenburgh police say they found Robert Watson, 76, his daughter Cherika Johnson, 50, and her son Jaden Johnson, 23, all with gunshot wounds, inside 351 Parkway Homes Road during a welfare check Thursday afternoon.

Police say one person was rushed to the hospital, but no one survived.

"It's gonna hurt us as a church, as well as a community, because they were really involved in the community," Robinson says.

Police say the tragedy appears to be an isolated domestic violence incident.

It's now prompting Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner to remind residents that help is available.

"It's impacting people all over the spectrum. I just sort of think that if a family is concerned about a potential of domestic violence, they should recognize that it is important to seek help," Feiner says.

As the community continues to grieve, Robinson says he wants to plan a prayer or candlelight vigil to remember the lives lost in the neighborhood.

"It really destroyed this community, this church, and we have to pull it together," Robinson says.

Feiner says police are continuing their investigation.
