L train riders dealt with another round of weekend disruptions as the line operated in two separate sections. Riders say this adds significant travel time for commuters already frustrated by months of intermittent service changes.

According to the MTA, trains this weekend are running only between Canarsie and Broadway Junction, and separately between Myrtle–Wyckoff and Manhattan. Shuttle buses were scheduled to run every ten minutes to bridge the gap, but riders told News 12 the buses were delayed and overcrowded.

One commuter said the disruption added hours to her trip. “It took an extra two hours. I go to school in the Bronx so I had to go around to get to Manhattan instead of just taking the L,” she said.

Another rider described the shuttle crowding as chaotic, saying, “It was a bit of a challenge. Everyone was waiting in a circle. It was crowded. I don’t like it at all.”

The weekend split service follows multiple suspensions earlier this year. The MTA says the latest disruption is tied to routine maintenance, but riders say the repeated outages make it difficult to maintain their own routines.
