Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a scammer who stole thousands from a 92-year-old woman in Brooklyn.

Investigators say the suspect called the victim on April 8, claimed to be a New York City Police Department employee and said her daughter had been in a serious car accident.

The suspect said the cost of medical care would be around $150,000. Shortly after, he arrived at the woman’s home and was given around $8,000.

Police say he fled the scene in an unknown direction. He was last seen wearing a brown sweater, blue vest, gray pants, black sunglasses and multicolored sneakers.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
