Emaciated dog found with mouth bound shut by rubberband in Port Jefferson Station

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and animal welfare officials are seeking to identify the owner of an abused dog found in Port Jefferson Station.

Authorities say the 1- to 3-year-old Yorkshire Terrier mix was discovered on Belle Terre Road on May 14. It was emaciated and had its mouth tightly shut with a rubber band.

The dog is currently at Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
