A driver accused of speeding and driving while intoxicated caused a crash on the Meadowbrook State Parkway on Sunday that left one person ejected and seriously injured. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Monday.
Deondre Clark was driving a Toyota Camry at an unsafe speed when he struck the rear of a Honda Pilot traveling northbound near Exit M5 around 3 a.m., according to New York State Police.
The Honda was occupied by a driver and three passengers.
Police say one passenger was ejected and taken to a hospital with serious injuries, while the remaining three occupants had minor injuries.
Clark, 35, was charged with vehicular assault, recklessly causing serious injury with a weapon — the vehicle — driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury.
Clark is being represented by Legal Aid. Bail was set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 insured bond and $1 million partially secured bond.
