A 15-year-old boy is accused of slashing another student inside William Taft High School in Mount Eden on Monday, police said.

Officers responded to 240 East 172nd St. just before 1 p.m. The school was sent into a brief lockdown, according to teachers, while police searched for the suspect.

A source tells News 12 that the teen was arrested inside the school, which "does scan for weapons.” They say he was wearing a monitoring bracelet from an alleged past crime.

Investigators say the teen is facing assault and harassment charges, in addition to criminal possession of a weapon.

The Department of Education issued the following statement:

"There is absolutely no place for weapons of any kind in our schools. The incident was quickly addressed by our school staff, who worked in lockstep with our partners from the NYPD/SSD. We will be providing additional support to the school community in the coming days."

Police say EMS took the victim to NYC Health +Hospitals/Harlem, where he is expected to recover.
