Yonkers is mourning the loss of a four‑legged hero following the death of a retired police K‑9 who made history with the police department.

Retired K‑9 Cali has passed away and is being remembered as the department’s first bloodhound, a trailblazer who served the city for several years.

Cali joined the force in 2016 and retired in 2023 after helping locate missing people and supporting countless investigations during her career.

Police said she played an important role in many cases and is being remembered as a valued member of the Yonkers Police Department.
