A man with a fake gun was killed in a police-involved shooting in Manhattan on Thursday.

Citizen app video captured the scene after the chaos. Police say that just before 11 p.m. on Bedford Street and 6th Avenue, two people flagged down officers on patrol and told them they were involved in a crash with a BMW. The individuals also told the officers that the driver tried to escape.

Officers approached the BMW and that was when the 37-year-old driver got out of the car and pointed a fake gun at the officers. After seeing the gun, officers opened fire and repeatedly told the man to drop the gun.

The officers also requested EMS to render aid and the man was taken to an area hospital but he did not survive.

Police recovered an imitation gun at the scene and the incident is now under investigation.

This is the second shooting that occurred in New York City on Thursday. Hours prior, police fatally shot a man wielding a sharp object who held two people hostage at the New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
