Funeral service held for 70-year-old man stabbed to death in Canarsie home

Family and friends gathered Tuesday at the Goshen Temple on Church Avenue to remember Frederick Howard, 70, who was fatally stabbed in his Canarsie home on Sept. 5.
Police arrested 31-year-old Josny Jean. Neighbors say he lived in on the third floor of the same house.
Multiple neighbors told News 12 Howard had tried filing a harassment complaint against Jean, who is now facing murder charges.
Howard was a long-time elder in his church and would often preach during church services. Friends and family remember him for his endless generosity and his love of gospel music.
The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
