Broadway’s 'Ragtime' revival scores 11 Tony Award nominations

The Broadway revival of "Ragtime" has received 11 Tony Award nominations for the June 7 ceremony, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical for Lear deBessonet and acting nominations for Joshua Henry, Brandon Uranowitz and Caissie Levy.

The production also earned nominations for choreography, costume design, lighting design and sound design.

The musical, based on the novel by E. L. Doctorow, transferred to Broadway following its run at Lincoln Center Theater and is currently playing at the Vivian Beaumont Theater through Aug. 2.

The production features a large ensemble cast and staging that includes the full company rising together during the opening sequence.

The story follows the intersecting lives of white upper-class families, Black residents of Harlem and Jewish immigrants in early 20th century America.
