A homeless man was arrested early Saturday morning for attempting to burglarize a home in Greenvale.

Police say two masked men entered a home on Locust Court just before 1 a.m. They then began threatening two male and two female victims inside with a handgun.

One of the victims fired a shotgun at the suspects, which led to them both fleeing the scene. No one was injured, according to authorities.

Police say officers and a K-9 unit located 31-year-old Anthony Vasquez several blocks away and arrested him a short time later.

Vasquez has been charged with burglary, attempted robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He was arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead Sunday morning.

The second suspect remains at large. Authorities urge anyone with information to call police.
