Sea.Hear.Now Festival to proceed amid Hurricane Lee concerns

Asbury Park will celebrate the Sea.Hear.Now Festival, despite the dangerous rip currents and big waves from Hurricane Lee in the backdrop.
This is the fifth year Asbury Park has hosted the festival, and the show is set to go one as planned this weekend.
The boardwalk is expected to see between 35,000-40,000 people, with over a dozen bands on three stages, with two of those stages are right on the beach an estimated 50 feet from the water.
Asbury Park Mayor John B. Moor told News 12 no state of emergency has been issued, but warns festival goers of the dangers in the water
“The number of riptides, the number of drownings this summer has been really, really heartbreaking for shore towns,” said Moor. “So please stay out of the water. Look at it. Hang out in it. Put your feet in it, but don't go in it right now especially when we know that the surf going to be so high.”
Moor added there will be plenty of first responders working at the festival. There is a surf contest that happens at the festival with pro surfers that is expected to take place.
