Police: 73-year-old female pedestrian critically injured in West Hempstead
Police say the female pedestrian was walking westbound crossing Woodfield Road at Oakford Street when she was struck by a blue-colored Toyota Highlander that was traveling southbound.

Police say a woman was seriously injured following a crash in West Hempstead on Wednesday.
Police say the female pedestrian, 73, was walking westbound crossing Woodfield Road at Oakford Street when she was struck by a blue-colored Toyota Highlander that was traveling southbound.
The operator of the Toyota, a male, 82, remained on the scene and contacted police.
The female victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. She is listed in critical condition.
Woodfield Road has been the scene of numerous accidents recently.
Four people were killed in traffic accidents in that area over a two-year stretch.
