Police say a 2-year-old girl died after she was found floating in a pool at 283 Cook St. in Huntington Station Tuesday.

The girl?s 17-year-old cousin pulled her out and called 911, officials say. Police and rescue workers arrived and administered CPR to the child, identified as Arianna Gutierrez.

Gutierrez was taken to Huntington Hospital, where she died shortly before noon.

Authorities say the child?s 43-year-old aunt was supposed to be watching her. They say she left the child alone in a room with a sliding glass door while she went into another room to send a fax. She was on the phone with Gutierrez?s mother when the child was found in the water.

Police are continuing to investigate and say everything in the yard appeared to be up to Huntington code. However, there was no gate around the pool.
