Two teenagers were shot in East New York just hours apart — and neighbors say it had them hitting the floor inside their homes to stay safe.

The latest shooting happened just after midnight Thursday on Autumn Avenue near Linden Boulevard. Police say a 19-year-old was shot in the shoulder right in front of a home on the block. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is expected to be OK.

One neighbor who lives nearby told News 12 they heard the shots.

“It woke me up in the middle of the night — just really loud boom, boom, boom, boom. Really loud sounds and then everything was silent,” they said.

“This younger generation is taking the Wild, Wild West literally, and it’s not going to stop unless something is done about it. More police presence.”

Police are also investigating a separate shooting that happened just 12 hours earlier — a 14-year-old was shot in the arm on Sutter Avenue, less than half a mile away.

Officers say two guys dressed in all black with ski masks took off running from that scene.

So far, police haven’t said if the two cases are connected.

While shootings are down this year in the NYPD’s 75th Precinct, the area still has more shootings than any other precinct citywide — with 26 reported so far in 2025.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
