2 Orange County schools allegedly impacted by multiple violent incidents Tuesday

Two Newburgh schools were impacted by multiple violent incidents Tuesday, according to several sources.
News 12 confirmed with district officials that a lockout was temporarily put in place at Gidney Avenue Memorial School after receiving a tip and a photo of police around the building.
District communications specialist Cassie Skarlz said, “Lockouts are used to secure school buildings and grounds during incidents that may pose a concern outside of the school.”
Sources say the lockout was due to a shots fired incident on Gidney Avenue.
News 12 reached out to city officials for information about the reported crime but has not heard back.
At Temple Hill Academy, sources say there were multiple fights Tuesday among students and that the principal was seen being “escorted out” of the building before the end of the school day.
News 12 was given a letter sent to school faculty and staff naming a new acting principal at Temple Hill.
The district confirms a new principal is in charge but said no other information can be provided about what allegedly happened at either school.
