The owner of a Bohemia oil and heating company found himself over a barrel when one of his oil trucks was stolen with $8,000 worth of fuel inside it Wednesday night.
Tony Esposito, owner of Consumer Comfort Group, says the truck was stolen from the company parking lot. Police say surveillance cameras captured two men cutting wires to jump the vehicle.
Esposito says he called police to report the truck stolen. He also called truck supplier Long Island Freight Liner to see about buying a replacement when the company told him a truck belonging to another customer had also been stolen.
Peter Nettesheim of LI Freight Liner says both of the stolen trucks were the same type, contained the same product and had the same capacity. He also says when oil trucks are stolen, they are typically found empty days later.
Police say they recovered Esposito?s truck around 1 p.m. Thursday, but would not say where it was found or if there was fuel inside. There has been no word on the other truck.
