Doctors at Nassau University Medical Center have announced that they will open testing centers for the Zika virus.
The outbreak of Zika has been linked to birth defects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Long Island is home to one of the nation's largest populations of Central American natives.
Due to that reason, a Zika testing station will be set up at the East Meadow hospital next week.
NUMC president Dr. Victor Politi says the hospital has been getting calls about people returning home from countries affected by the disease stating they are concerned.
