A Yonkers official is calling on the city to add protection around the city war’s memorial from graffiti and possible vandalism.
Councilman Mike Breen says Palestinian flags were drawn using chalk on the base and one of the steps of the memorial on Nepperhan Avenue.
Breen says that city crews have already cleaned the area impacted, but that such a sacred part of the community should not be disturbed.
The memorial commemorates Yonkers residents killed or missing during World War I and World War II, as well as the Korean and Vietnam wars.
