After a nearly four-month delay, the MLB season is finally underway.
The Yankees opened the 2020 campaign against the defending champs, The Nationals.
For every team, it's a 60-game sprint to the World Series, with a nationwide pandemic as a backdrop.
Yankees fans got to see the debut of Gerrit Cole, the $324 million pitcher that pitched up in the off season. The Yankees say he's the stud starter they need to finally end their 11-year World Series championship drought.
"I feel like they did a great job of keeping themselves in shape and ready to go when they came in, and it was evident to me from day one that this group was ready, was hungry to put us in a position to do what we think we are capable of," says Yankee manager Aaron Boone.
