An exhibit inside Yankee Stadium is showcasing the rich history of Latinos in baseball as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Roughly 25 percent of players in Major League Baseball are Hispanic. Baseball in Latin America has paralleled baseball in the United States.
The game started in Cuba a few years after it was invented in the U.S. It then caught on in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela, among other countries.
Manny Garcia, director of Yankee Latino Affairs, helped bring the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame to Yankee Stadium. While it started in 2010 in the Dominican Republic, the exhibit in the Bronx gives fans a taste of what the Hall of Fame is all about.
It highlights some of the biggest names in sports history, including Roberto Clemente, Bernie Williams, and Miguel Cabrera.
The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 21. You can visit it during any Yankees home game you have a ticket to or by taking a stadium tour.
