Officials are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian last night.
According to police, Xu Jingeng was attempting to cross West Hoffman Avenue between South Broadway and South 4th Street around 6:30 p.m. when he was struck.
Officials say Jingeng was struck by a westbound 2006 Lexus driven by Agnieszka Chelchowski.
Jingeng, of Lindehurst, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Chelchowski, 34, of Lindenhurst, was not injured in the accident.
The car was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
