A Wyandanch Memorial High School teacher?s assistant was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually abusing a student.

Suffolk police say school officials contacted them and reported rumors of inappropriate behavior between a staffer and a student. After a month-long investigation, police arrested 40-year-old Torrence Lewis on accusations he abused a 16-year-old.

Lewis has been charged with two counts of third-degree sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
