A Wyandanch High School senior was charged with sexual assault Friday in connection with an on-campus incident.
Police said a 14-year-old girl accused Simeon Thompson, 18, of forcing her to perform a sex act inside the boy's locker room after school Thursday.
Friends and classmates defended Thompson, saying the act was consensual. After the pair was caught in the act, they said the girl panicked and made up the assault allegation because she faced expulsion.
Regardless, the age of consent in New York State is 16 years old.
Thompson was arraigned in Central Islip court. Bail was set at $10,000.
School officials said the incident is under investigation, but declined to comment further.
