A World War II veteran from Long Island has been reaching out to troops serving overseas for more than a decade.

For 11 years, 93-year-old Hyman Strachman has been sending DVD movies from his Massapequa apartment to soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. He originally bought bootlegged movies, made copies and then sent them overseas. Now, he and his son buy movies on eBay and ship them off to those in service.

In return, soldiers have been sending "Big Hy" pictures and writing him letters.

After reading about his actions in the New York Times last year, actor Zack Galafinakis began to send signed copies of DVDs to Strachman to ship overseas.
