DA collects DNA in push to identify 'Asian Doe' - the last unidentified Gilgo Beach victim

A decade after the remains were discovered, investigators are making another push to identify "Asian Doe," the last unidentified victim recovered from Gilgo Beach.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said his office traveled to Flushing, Queens, to collect voluntary DNA samples from members of the Asian community in hopes of finding a genetic connection to Asian Doe.
Tierney said 24 people voluntarily provided DNA samples during the latest effort. He said they have previously done a collection event in Manhattan's Chinatown.
Those samples will not be kept by law enforcement or entered into any databases.
Authorities recovered Asian Doe's skeletal remains along Ocean Parkway on April 4, 2011. Prosecutors previously said they suffered a violent death: homicide by blunt force trauma.
The Gilgo Beach Homicide Task Force has said the victim was believed to be between 17 and 23 years old and stood between 5 feet 3 inches tall and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
A forensic artist with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children created facial reconstructions depicting what the victim may have looked like, including a version showing if they identified as female.
Clothing items they were wearing at the time of their death were Chrysantheme, Rafaella and Bill Blass.
