The Long Beach High School graduation ceremony at Veterans Field Friday took on special meaning for one World War II veteran who was among the graduates.
Rudolph Lantelme, 89, dropped out of high school in 1944 to fight in the war.
He enlisted in the Navy and served as a radio operator.
After the war, Lantelme got married, raised four children and worked as a guidance counselor.
