A World War II veteran from Selden celebrated his 100 birthday with special honors.

Frank Vene was surrounded by friends and family during a meeting of the Westfield Senior Citizens Club when he was presented with a Dedicated Service to Our County award by the Selden Fire Department.

Throughout his service, Vene was also awarded a Bronze Star for his heroic service in combat and a Purple Heart.
